Greenwich, CT (May 4, 2020) – Greenwich Polo Club wishes first and foremost, to extend our deepest sympathy to those who have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and offer our most sincere appreciation to front-line healthcare professionals and all essential workers who have been working tirelessly.
GPC remains committed to hosting Sunday public polo matches at the club this summer. We hope to resume scheduled public matches beginning August 30, 2020, for the opening match of the 2020 East Coast Open tournament. With that said, due to these unprecedented circumstances, we have decided that it will not be possible to open to the public as previously scheduled during the months of June and July. This decision has been made with the utmost consideration for the health and safety of everyone who makes our events possible, including but not limited to our local guests, visitors from around the world, players, contractors, and professional staff. It is our responsibility to the community to uphold social distancing efforts during these unprecedented times.
In the months ahead, Club management will continue to monitor this evolving public health situation and take all necessary steps to successfully stage the 2020 East Coast Open, scheduled for August 30 - September 13. Additional information about these events will be made available in the near future, as well as online ticket sales.
