On January 02 2012 Lahore Polo Club celebrated its 125 anniversary Two matches were decided on the opening day of Punjab Bank Polo Tournament , which was organized as a historic event to mark 125th anniversary the Lahore Polo Club.
In a high score first game PAKISTAN AIR FORCE team defeated Adisseo 9-7. On the winning side, Shaukat Ali Malik stealing the show with a total of six goals. Naushad Khan (2) and Mian Iftikhar Hussain (1) was the other scorer. Habib Sameer Oberoi (4), Bilal Haye (1), Adnan Jalil Azam (1) and Usman Hayee (1) for Adisseo scored.
In the second three-goal game Shamil Shah Alam and two by Omar Asjad Malhi Sakuf helped overcome Guard Group 5-3. Raja Samiullah all scored goals for the loser.

Addressing a press conference regarding the 125 years milestone, LPC president Irfan Ali Hyder said yesterday: “With the origins of polo from Central Asia thousands of years ago, our region is known for the colorful and powerful history of this sport which has always been the mark of royalty and prestige. From the time when only the best horsemen in the Central Asian royal armies came for practicing this sport to present day when the world’s best polo players come to Pakistan for the honour of playing on these historical grounds, the LPC has brought this royal game a long way.”
He said every year the LPC host a series of prestigious trophies ranging from the historical Aibak Cup and Punjab Cup to the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup for the National Championship, and the 18 Goal PPA Challenge Trophy that gains the attention of socialites and players all over the world. “With the new playing season approaching, it is important to note that while this classic sport of power and strategy is only played a few months every year, it is the preparation of skill and aristocratic breeding throughout the year that has made polo such a favourite and possessively owned sport of the royals Best possible facilities had been provided to the players at the club, while in England, and several Argentina players likely to enjoy the season was over here playing different teams during the season current president,added.
