Lazy P blasts Duck Hill, 17-5 in

The Presidents Cup IPC qualifier got underway Thursday afternoon at the International Polo Club in Wellington with a resounding win for Lazy P.

The Lazy P team of Chuck Pugsley, Wesley Finlayson, Santiago Galland and Gringo Colombres destroyed Duck Hill (Bob Stanton, Mehrdad Baghai, Jared Zenni and John Gobin) 17-5 in a match that saw Lazy P hold Duck Hill scoreless through the first half of the game. Lazy P scored five first chukker goals with Colombres converting one 60-yard penalty shot and a pair of goals from the field. Galland and Finlayson added single goals in the opening period for a 5-0 lead.

Three more Lazy P goals in the second period went unanswered as Colombres added a goal from the field and a goal on a penalty shot. Finlayson scored his second goal of the game as Lazy P led by eight goals, 8-0.

For the third straight chukker, Duck Hill was kept off of the scoreboard. Colombres added three more goals (two goals from the field and one on a penalty shot) and extended the Lazy P lead to eleven goals, 11-0.

Finlayson scored two more goals in the opening chukker of the second half and Colombres scored a goal from the field as well. Duck Hill saw its first sign of offense with single goals from Zenni, Gobin and Stanton (Gobin and Stanton scored on penalty shots). Lazy P continued to lead by eleven goals, 14-3.

The two teams traded gals in the fifth with Pugsley and Finlayson scoring single goals for Lazy P while Zenni managed a goal from the field and a penalty goal. The chukker ended with Lazy P continuing to dominate Duck Hill, 16-5.

Colombres scored the only goal of the sixth chukker on a 60-yard penalty shot. Duck Hill was blanked for once again as Lazy P rode off with a humbling 17-5 win over Duck Hill.

Colombres led all scoring with ten goals. Finlayson scored five times and Pugsley and Galland added single goals in the win.

Zenni led the Duck Hill offense with three goals (one on a penalty shot). Gobin and Stanton added single penalty goals in a losing effort.
